# Plans, allowances, and overage

> Learn how plans, allowances, overage, and usage measurement work in the new billing.

TwelveLabs is moving plans to the new billing in phases. Legacy billing applies to your plan until it moves. This page describes the new billing. For legacy billing, see [Manage your plan](/v1.3/agents/get-started/plans-and-billing/manage-your-plan). For the dates, see [Migrate to the new billing](/v1.3/agents/get-started/plans-and-billing/migrate-to-new-billing).

The new billing charges for the storage of your assets and for the Workloads that you run on them. It has four plans: Free, Plus, Pro, and Enterprise. Each plan includes an allowance for both. This page explains the allowances, how the platform measures usage, and how overage works.

For the price and the allowances of each plan, see the [Pricing](https://www.twelvelabs.io/pricing) page.

# Key concepts

This section explains the key concepts and terminology used on this page:

* **Asset**: Your uploaded content. Once created, you can reference the same asset across multiple operations without uploading the file again.

* **Managed Intelligence**: The service that stores your assets and keeps them ready to use. It includes processing and updates to the latest models.

* **Workload**: A task that you run on your assets. Examples are creating Jockey responses, analyzing, segmenting, and embedding.

* **Allowance**: The amount of Managed Intelligence or Workloads that your plan includes.

* **Overage**: Usage above the allowance of your plan.

# What the platform measures

The platform measures Managed Intelligence in GB of your assets. It counts only assets that the platform processed successfully. It records the peak total size of your assets each day. It then averages the daily values over the billing period.

The platform values your Workload usage at the rates on the [Pricing](https://www.twelvelabs.io/pricing) page. This value counts toward the Workload allowance of your plan.

The following table shows the unit that the platform measures for each billable item. Where the table shows rounding, the platform always rounds up. For example, a duration of 10.2 seconds counts as 11 seconds.

| Item | What the platform measures | Rounding |

| Jockey responses | Tokens | Up to the next 1,000 tokens on the total for the billing period |

# Allowances

Each plan includes a Managed Intelligence allowance and a monthly Workload allowance.

To see how much of each allowance you have used:

Go to the [Playground](https://playground.twelvelabs.io).

In the sidebar, select **Settings** > **Billing & Plans**.

The **Billing & Plans** page also shows when the Workload allowance resets.

When you reach an allowance and overage is off or not available, your requests fail with an error.

# Overage

Overage covers both Managed Intelligence and Workloads. You pay for the usage above your allowance. For overage rates, see the [Overage Pricing](https://www.twelvelabs.io/overage) page.

| Plan | Overage |
| :--------- | :------------------------- |
| Free | Not available |
| Plus | Not available |
| Pro | Available. Off by default. |
| Enterprise | Available. On by default. |

To turn overage on or off on the Pro plan:

Go to the [Playground](https://playground.twelvelabs.io).

In the sidebar, select **Settings** > **Billing & Plans**.

Select the **Overage** toggle.

# Rate limits

A rate limit controls how many requests you can send in a period of time. An allowance controls how much you can use in a billing period. They are separate. The Free plan has its own rate limits. The Plus and Pro plans share the same rate limits.

For the limits, see the [New billing rate limits](/v1.3/agents/get-started/plans-and-billing/rate-limits/new-billing) page.
